Corniche de Libreville arose as a response to the international competition for the Bord de Mer de Libreville. Accordingly, the main objective of the plan was to adapt the coastline for recreation and bathing, so that the sea front area can be enjoyed by the population and promoting a connection between the city and the ocean, providing different experiences along its length.
